Parties — Nightly

What's a festival without some fun parties? We have something special going on each and every night!

Friday, November 1 — Gamercamp is putting up an arcade full of games created at the Toronto Independent Game Jam! These games were amazingly made in just 72 hours, but you wouldn't be able to tell trying them out. Join us for a night of games and celebration as we also honour TOJam for its contributions to the Toronto community.

The Toronto Independent Game Jam Party is FREE, 8:00 pm

Saturday, November 2 — We love games, all games! It's why on Saturday, to celebrate our fifth year we are taking it old-school with classics from the fair. Yes, go back in time and play six favourites including skee-ball, leap frog, ring toss all while enjoying popcorn and cotton candy. Music, games, and fun: what more could you ask for?

Plus, if you're looking for something a little more modern, catch the Toronto premiere of the multiplayer game Samurai Gunn!

The 5th Anniversary Party is $8 at the door, 9:00 pm

Sunday, November 3 — Catch the Canadian premiere of the game documentary 'Us And The Game Industry' looking at the revolution being made by indie game developers, including Gamercamp speaker Alexander Bruce. In addition, catch the premiere of the mini-doc about the ROM Game Jam.

'Us And The Game Industry' is $8 at the door, $5 if you have a pass for Alexander's talk.

Salon Series — Intimate Discussions By Special Guest Speakers — Nightly 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm

Each night of Gamercamp—Friday, Saturday, and Sunday—we will have a guest speaker from outside Toronto share their insights and experiences in the games industry. We call it the Salon Series, because we want big ideas delivered in intimate spaces to allow the kind of hearty discussion that salons were famous for having!

Salons were known for their hospitality, so there will be comfortable seating, a complimentary beverage (coffee, tea, or juice—if you want something harder, that's on you!), and time for conversing afterwards.

Friday, November 1 is your chance to hear Vancouver's Nels Anderson, lead designer of the award-winning Mark Of The Ninja, discussing the importance of systems in game design for both creating personal experiences and addressing the problem of learned helplessness.

Saturday, November 2 has Jill Murray, narrative design director for Ubisoft Quebec and the award-winning co-writer of Assassin's Creed: Liberation and the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Black Flag. She'll be talking about diversity in the games industry in a talk entitled 'YOU Work In GAMES? How The Gaming Industry Saved One Book Nerd’s Life, And What Diversity Really Means Within The Industry.'

Sunday, November 3 sees Alexander Bruce based in Melbourne, Australia talking about the long, winding journey behind his critically-acclaimed and commercially successful game Antichamber: 'An Idea, A Laptop, And A Question: The Long And Messy Road Toward Antichamber’s Success.'
