Gamercamp is thrilled to announce that Dean Hall, creator of survival horror simulation DayZ, has been added to its stellar lineup as the festival’s International Keynote—in a Canadian exclusive.

“Now in its fourth year, Gamercamp has been aggressively pursuing the best talent pushing the boundaries in the videogame culture and industry,” said Festival Director Jaime Woo in a statement. “The success and popularity of DayZ’s fresh take on the zombie game genre makes Dean Hall the perfect addition to this year’s festival.”

1.3 million people have jumped into the horrifying world of DayZ, a modification based on ARMA II’s military simulation, which has been dubbed by Kotaku and Eurogamer as one of the best zombie games ever made.

Players find themselves on an island with few resources and must do their best to survive while avoiding the attack-ready zombies wandering the land. The DayZ mod for ARMA II is available on Steam and the standalone version will be released in 2013.
